Best Gas Grills Between $250 and $500 for 2018

Once we move away from the least expensive Gas Grills we start to find larger, more powerful units. The grills on this list are generally powerful enough to do some intense searing and are perfect for the most popular grilled items. I still recommend avoiding a lot of extras. Side burners in this range are a good choice and they tend to be powerful enough to heat a large pot and actually function like a real gas burner. Typically in this price range, you find porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates and BTU outputs closer to the 100 per square inch that provides real heat. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but these are the items to look for. I still recommend avoiding the big shiny grills, particularly those with five or more burners. These are signals of poor construction quality and are sold on the idea that bigger is better. It isn't. Most people can do their grilling on two or three burners and the grills on this list reflect that.

Ideal for those who want to do simple grilling tasks for a few people. The side tables fold down for a small footprint and the cast iron cooking grates are heavy and provide excellent heat transfer.

Huntington is a brand name owned by the same company that makes Broil King. This three burner gas grill is a smaller less powerful version of the Broil-King Signet above. These two models are the only grills on this list made in North America. The Huntington Cast 3200 is simple but well constructed and that cast aluminum body holds in heat and will last for at least a decade.

The Char-Broil Signature is the non-infrared version of the Commercial Series model above. Comparable in size and features, without the infrared design, it lacks the power to complete. While this is a large, full-featured gas grill, the Char-Broil above is the better choice (though obviously not the best choice in this price range.

Char-Griller is known for making competent charcoal grills and smokers. This gas grill has a barrel shape that reflects their history. While lightweight in construction this model is good, just not great when compared with similarly priced products. Worth considering, especially on sale, but it is at the bottom of the list for a reason.
